The house has seen a better day
and a brighter night
The wind, time and the rain
taken their toll, battered it's soul
Tall grassy plants almost
hide the place from sight
Ivy moss and mould
cover like a green pungent shawl
residing within the northern wall
Reminiscent of a famous
fairy tale scene
Red rose bushes overgrown
sumptuous, almost obscene
Resplendent, regal, forbidding
Their lavish richness is intimidating,
Their lush perfume intoxicating
Their thorns sharp debilitating
But I will enter this deserted place which exists
In my imagination and inner heart alone
Each room within contains
Every memory which I have ever known
