We Were a Certain Way
Boys will be boys,
when they know a hole from a hole in the wall.
Girls will be girls,
because of course they are.
Lovers will be set in their ways,
because sometimes you can be too close to see.
Parents, there's not much to say right now,
speak to your children.
Miles of empty space,
won’t feel them til it’s all we’ve got.
With nothing but time,
and the earth beneath our feet,
we could do with some peace
