I ‘see’ footage
of Marcy,
the highest peak.
Am I up to the
struggle to reach
the uppermost
point of another
Natural creation?
Imagine what a
view I’d have from
that Adirondack
Mountain top.

Impressed was she
by hands unused
except to hold
a cigarette.
One brow was raised
her mouth a sneer,
she tossed her head
then tapped one foot.
Fell ashes now
with spite she missed
the tray that stood
within her reach;
impressed was she
by self, though none
about her was.
