On The Verge Of Saying It
she wasn’t in the mood to debate
perhaps he should have been a celibate
in her humblest of opinions he was delinquent
how could he only use his mind when it was convenient?
didn’t he know he had to have complete dominion over his mind?
at all times she wondered whether his head wasn’t full of wind?
if she hadn’t authority over her mouth she would have said it!
but his rash actions were fast pushing her to say what was right
didn’t an African proverb admonish those who didn’t have brakes?
talk of dominion and control and authority over mind-and -mouth leaks!
What He Told Her
She received an anonymous call
It was quick and to the point too
Treat him well, give him tenderness
He deserves it like daily prescriptions
Persecuted For Justice
Did you hear of the peaceful activists who were stalked
and captured and arrested fast?
When will we have a true dawn of democracy and justice?
I ask you
How is it born under such skewed and unjust conditions?
Why is it a crime to exercise one`s constitutional right
to demonstrate against infamous butchers of innocent souls?
Is it because the infamous slayers trivialise the lives of others?
Of the butchered victims’ relatives too?
Not to mention the authorities’ glaring disrespect for justice!
Is it because the powerful slaughters seek to sweep
them under the rug?
I mean are they are so mighty and mean that they want to bury
their evil atrocities too?
Did you hear their sanctimonious calls?
Do the dead forget and forgive?
In their shallow graves?
Who is honestly taking responsibility for them in the first place?
Did you see the highhandedness and swiftness of the authorities?
If the economic woes were being dealt with that rapidity--
would we still be stuck with liquidity problems as a country?
Is cash readily available now?
Why can`t the authorities arrest the economic challenges--
not the innocent activists?
As long as they are not properly addressed do you think
these will stop peeping and weeping from under the carpet?
Atrocities are not the poor victims` stupidities
So can they be wished away just like that?
