CRAIG NOONAN - POEMS

Craig Noonan is a nineteen-year-old who lives in Dublin Ireland. He is currently studying a diploma course in full-stack software development. He has written many poems in his spare time and enjoys reading poetry from writers such as Sylvia Plath, William B. Yeats, Patrick Kavanagh, Robert Frost and many more. His hobbies include playing guitar and has an appreciation for old movies, good books and photography. 
Craig won a commendation award from the Irish Civil Liberties for a poem entitled "Forsaken" in a poetry competition.

Unreciprocated love
​

Several of them said she will never love you back
I tried so hard to make it work, they say opposites attract
But alas it was not meant to be
There is nothing more I can do or say
Wondering how it’d ended this way?
“It is better to have loved and lost then to have never loved at all”
So, this is where the love story ends
With herself and I
For I am the one for her, but she cannot see,
 That she is the one for me.

Nana Esther
​

The day my grandmother died I had paint on my hands and face
In the waiting room of the hospital a nurse gave me a colouring book
My mother was with her when I was called to the bed side
My mother never cried
She had just buried her father not long before
I do not think she could really take anymore
She said “I will pretend Nana is on a holiday, until I have the courage and strength to accept that she has passed away “
She still has never grieved to this day.

Nightsounds
​

 In the distance the distinct sound of a train
Imagination as my sleep creeps upon me once again
I am transformed to another time a time long past
A time well before mine
Music is playing as I sit in my seat
The ticket master comes to check and retreats
 In an old army uniform I am dressed
My face to the train window is pressed
Where am I coming from? where am I going?
The story in my dream it is ongoing
All is in my control the seeds I am sowing.
