other portions in life; once gone, it cannot be regained. While the statement is simple, the concept seems as difficult to grasp as mortality. We live as if both time and death were abstract. We value relationships, tangible items, roles we play in careers. ‘Next time’ is a catch-phrase often elevating a disappointment. Time- zones, daylight/standard, Greenwich Mean setting universal clocks, birthdays, affixed rituals create memories or markings but mentally there is always more, just waiting to be used. While alive, there’s no way to comprehend it is temporary.
