​21st Century Pandemic

Cowboys, Lone Ranger,
Halloween... masks
were costume. Wranglers
did keep dry dust
from faces, and bandits
wanted camouflage.
Unseen, sneaking into
our bodies, a virus
hungrily halts defenses
caring not about age,
race, region-- savoring
human organs.  Masks.
No longer accessories
are mandatory outdoors.
Protection has replaced
fun disguise.
