I look down at
The stacked condos
 
I see the lives
Lived
Adjacent
Us
 
A cat with white
Paws creeping
Across a table
 
A woman setting
An alarm
Perhaps
To cook
 
A girl
Sleeping
in the remnants of
The early November
Morning light
Her hand curled
As if to hang on
To the remainder
Of yesterday
And all its potential
Had there
Been any
 
I hear a shout
From afar
A truck crawls
Up the street
Doors slam
And open
Sailboats float
In the Aegean
They offer
A bit of consolation
For now I know
I am not the only
One
