He was slowly getting more used to this weapon he found, almost beginning to understand how it to use the odd circular metal blade.
Elliot began slowly moving down along the hall with holding cells interspersed along each wall. Not three days ago he would never have imagined himself in this situation. First the Ordinators came and gathered up all the kids, his sister included, then he hitched a ride on the transport to get her back before the process of initiation began. The four Dae’as only know what they do to them after that… He was starting to wish he and his family had gone farther from the war, but now is not the time to be thinking about that, he had to find his sister and get out of these cells. He walked softly but he couldn’t help but hear his own heartbeat in his ears, he was terrified. He was able to knock out one and get the jump on his friends, but these things were dangerous to take on, if he messed up even once he would be done for. Voices ahead shook him from his reverie. He quickly found a place to hide in one of the open cells in this section of the ship. “Quir taque? Tarouche de rechta,” said one of the Ordinators. He seemed to be speaking into a metal cone shaped device. A voice rang back through the cone, shouting something indecipherable from afar. The tone of it was harsh and the Ordinator holding it jumped upon hearing it. He mumbled back a quick response and hurried along down an adjacent hall. At this, Elliot began moving ahead once more. He could pick up a little of the language they were speaking. It sounded like they were talking about a new shipment; whether that means new supplies or new conscripts wasn’t clear. He looked back at the rest of the cell block, he couldn’t see or hear anything the through the area he’d been and the area ahead of him. Elliot decided he couldn’t take the chance, and he set off to follow the Ordie. Elliot was creeping along at a brisk pace, trying to find out where that irritating Ordie had gone. Damn Ordinators, they were nothing but trouble from the start, back when they were first made. Whoever thought it was smart to put ancient magic inside the dead and before giving them orders ought to be locked up, Elliot thought to himself. He shook himself from his thoughts, he had to stay sharp if he wanted to save his sister. It was then that he heard them, a group of Ordinators, laughing their asses off. It didn’t take long for Elliot to see what they were so happy about. On the ground in front of them were several bodies. The kids! Elliot’s mind raced, his blood was screaming through his veins. His only thought now was to strike them down. He couldn’t see their faces but he knew them from the kids who were taken. The Ordinators began motioning to the large crate where the kids were surely kept till now, beckoning someone else. One spoke through his grin, “Inta quire?” with his hands idly wiping his blade. Did he ask for a name? Why? What purpose does that have? These and a thousand other thoughts raced through Elliot’s mind when he heard a familiar voice, a voice he had known all his life, and a voice belonging to the person he was here to find. “M-my name is Suzanne,” came the stuttering voice. The girl looked worse for wear, a large bruise blossoming on her forhead, and her clothes torn and ripped all over. When the girl actually responded, the Ordinators paused for a moment, they hadn’t expected one to be able to understand them. They pulled her out viciously, the laughing had stopped dead with the girls response. Elliot realized what was happening, she knew the ancient tongue, she was still young enough to be trained, she would be made a higher up, something more than an Ordinator, and Elliot would never see her again. It was now or never! Elliot rushed out from his spot, pulling his weapon out in front of him, he made a single slicing motion at the back of the Ordinator holding Suzy, aiming for the core that animated it. He struck through, pivoting as he did, to grab his sister and began running with her in his arms. “Brother!” Suzy said. “Why are you here? How did you do that to it?” “Not now, now we have to get out of here!” “B-but brother, you took down an Ordinator! That’s not physically possible!” “I’ll explain later, just hold tight and stay quiet.” They ran, on and on back to the loading bay, back through the halls of metal and bone that made up this ship. Elliot managed a fast turn into the cell block, sprinting full speed ahead. He had finally made it to the loading bay, now all he needed was to find a ship to hide on and he and his sister were free. He had put distance between him and the other two Ordinators, but for how long? He searched for a ship soon departing, made easier by the alert one of the Ordinators must have sounded. He found a ship that was preparing to leave, and hopped in, his sister in tow. “Brother, what-” but she was silenced by Elliot before she could complete her thought. Elliot simply whispered back, “Stay quiet for now, at least until we land. I promise, I’ll explain later.” With that the ship was leaving the station, the two stowaways were beginning their trip to much safer lands. Now, Elliot thought, if I could just keep out of trouble, then things might just be easier.
