Chelsea S. Nunez is a young Hispanic and Native American writer and she has earned her BFA in the Creative Writing program at Full Sail University. She has self published an E-Book, Unknown Stories of a Notorious Girl on Smashwords and is currently working on a couple passion projects as a writer. In her free time she enjoys writing short stories, screenplays, and thinking of bigger ideas for her own world building project. Warm Hands
​

​His warm hands were wrapped around my neck
For a moment, it was quiet.
Quiet enough that I can collect my very own thoughts.
Thoughts on how I love him,
and the warm hands he used
to take life from me.
It wasn’t always bad now,
the bruises where once kisses before.
A trail of happiness is on me instead
His warm hands were loving,
Soft and tender, for once, happiness.
Just a glance of sunshine.
I stare into his lifeless eyes,
I gasp for help, I’m dying.
I told him no.
I told him to stop, please.
I wasn’t begging enough,
he told me. I wasn’t enough.
My body cold, his hands warm.
Death is final.
I tell him, I love him.
He lets go now,
stops and listens,
Listens to me gasping for air
He says he’s really sorry,
That he loves me just as much,
That he’ll die for me.
But if I leave, I’m a goner.
I say that isn’t love,
Love doesn’t hurt like that,
Love is his warm hands,
Embracing me on a cold night,
Pleasing me when I want it.
I walked away, no more apologizes,
said my goodbyes, I walk away, fearless.
