Padmini Krishnan is a Web Copywriter, residing in Singapore. The Lost Soul

His soul refuses to leave
the binding earth
He finds no solace in his town
or his fiancée’s zombie eyes

He wanders in the battleground
awaiting his commander’s orders
gliding amongst half-dead companions
not recognizing brethren laid to rest

His tears
grow into loud sobs
at his own body
those of his friends
and his enemies

He sobs for the civilians
their blood lust, their hatred
their ignorance and gratitude

He wanders amongst soldiers
seen by none
and heard by none
