LOLA HORNOF - POEMS

Picture
I am simple country woman who loves nature.  i enjoy gardening, hiking, nature walks, the beach, and spending time with my fiance.  I love to write and hope evryone enjoys what I write.

Social Anxiety

Crowded room,
My heart pounds,
Rapidly,
Everything closes in,
Losing my breath,
Have to get out,
Stop the shame,
People everywhere,
They insist on talking,
I stutter back at them,
Feeling stupid,
I cannot control it,
Air,
Please,
Everyone watching,
Judging,
I hate social events.

Forms of Love

Love comes in many forms,
Through actions,
A simple smile,
That changes your whole day,
Sharing a laugh,
That only you two understand,
Love has many forms,
That special coffee you wanted,
And he surprises you with it,
Just to see the smile on your face,
It is the little things that show love.

Fake Friends

You are there when they need you,
But do not return the favor,
They say great things to your face,
But talk bad behind your back,
Backstabber,
They laugh at your jokes,
Even when you know they are not funny,
They get what they want from you,
Sucking you dry,
Human succubus,
Then they do not talk to you or come around for awhile,
Until they need you again,
Seeing through them,
Getting rid of these toxic people.

Desire

That deep desire,
Coursing through your veins,
To create something,
Meaningful,
Helpful,
Pulling on all your creativity,
As your desire pushes through,
You have to let it out,
The words,
On paper,
Your desire will guide you,
For what to say,
Raw emotion,
As the pen hits the paper,
You write fast,
Not wanting to forget anything,
And you it all out,
Making your desire fulfilled.

Be Grateful

Be grateful for life,

Its ups and downs,

And all that it holds,
,
Life is exciting,

I am quite alive,

Each and every day

I pray,

I am grateful,

May not be much I have,

In so many ways,

But it comes with a pay off,

In my faith,

There may be a lot,

That we consider bad,

But life works out,

It is all we truly have,

So hold it close,

Live everyday fully.

A Voice

A murmur,
Whisper,
Holler,
All a voice,
So you are heard,
Soft or husky,
Sometimes sultry,
Conscience,
Following instinct,
Use your voice,
And make sure you are heard.

A waterfall

Crystal clear water,
Cascading down,
Roaring from the mountain,
So powerful,
Yet peaceful,
Cutting through the Earth,
Yet peaceful,
The possibility,
Of where it ends,
Full of possibility,
Roaring drain from higher up,
The mountain,
Into a pool,
Of rapids,
Full of foam,
At the bottom,
Spraying on you,
As you sit on the mountain,
Contemplating.

Appreciation

All she wanted was some appreciation,
Just a little gratitude,
Would be nice she thought,
For someone to regard her and give her some esteem,
A little favor,
Always turned into a hassle,
And no one was ever thankful,
Just a small tribute,
A few little words,
A thank you,
A smile,
Something,
Just a salute she was doing a good job,
A little appreciation.

Be Somebody

Be somebody you can be proud of,
Hold your head up high,
Help others,
Have compassion,
Follow your dreams,
Remove all negativity,
And toxic people,
Be positive,
You do not have to do something big,
To be somebody,
All the small things count,
Smiling at a stranger,
All can help you be somebody.

Challenges

Every day,
We face something new,
A new challenge,
Awaits us every day,
You cannot control life,
Or what it brings,
Challenges,
Of all types,
Around everywhere you turn,
How you handle them,
Shows your true character,
Integrity,
Loyalty,
Honesty,
Problem-solving skills,
Life is all about,
How you handle it,
You take the good,
With the bad,
Never knowing,
When you wake up in the morning,
Which it is going to be,
So wake up,
Be positive,
And face those challenges,
For every one of them you conquer,
You build your character.

Addicted to finding love

All she wanted was love,
She was addicted to finding it,
It was her obsession,
Speed dating did not work out well,
Then she tried online dating,
But that was awful,
Her mother had fixed her up so many times,
And nothing,
No connection,
Her friends had fixed her up,
But there was no chemistry,
So she kept going,
She tried bars and personal ads,
Still no one felt right to her,
So her search continued,
Parks, yoga classes, the gym,
Nothing happened,
So she kept going,
Addicted to finding love.

Behind the Mask

I want to take off my mask,
and show who I am,
I’m just so full of fear,
That you will not like what you see,
Within me,
I cannot open up or let you see,
I cannot let anyone near,
Because I’m scared,
I will get broken,
I guess I will get over it someday,
With every word that I speak,
I get a little closer,
 I pray,
You tell me to let it out,
But I cannot,
Something holds me back,
The good and the bad,
The things that make me cry,
At night,
In my bed,
At night where no one can hear me,
I want you,
To understand,
It is not you,
It is the pain the world has caused,
Breaking me down,
Shattering me into pieces,
But I am scared,
To let it all out,
Afraid I will go insane,
You are what I need,
I trust you enough to let you in,
Please do not betray my trust,
I’ll always keep trying,
And keep going on,
No matter what,
To be a whole person again.

Blind to Myself

Am I blind,
Seeing things different,
From others,
Am I losing my own thoughts?
They race through my head,
Scrambled,
Trying to organize them,
I feel my reality is cracking,
Into pieces,
Little parts of me,
Do I laugh,
Or cry,
So may things running through my mind,
Yet,
 nothing is at all.
