Edward L. Canavan (January 19, 1971 -  ) 
is an American poet whose work has been published in The Opiate, Ibis Head Review, Burning Word, and North of Oxford.
   He currently resides in the burning cauldron of hellfire known as the San Fernando Valley, California.

points of turn
​

​again to the grind
 
determined new
the same routine
 
all in perspective
 
be it change
be it decision
be it definition
or direction
 
with notions relieved
and dusted from vision
 
clearer paths unfold
once that which is left
finally falls away.

even now

​better than darkness
 
beyond the distance
of mist and veils
 
no cave to wander from
no bars to pry apart
 
here
in the nothing
of thought
 
the truth
is simple
and soft.

orchard of return
​

​longer the nights
hanging by a thread
in the back of the mind
 
gasping in the thin air
of higher powers
 
nothing need be worshipped
nothing need be damned
 
to see thru the weighted haze
of conformed interpretation
 
filling voids
with tradition
and myth
 
when what is needed
is but a peaceful revolt
of the heart
 
one by one
by one.

​in the unnamed hollow
where past and future reside
 
there is only distraction
 
life
is breath
to breath
 
a constant eternity
 
that has
nothing to do
with time.
